ScoreItUp’s Personal Statement and Law School Application Consulting

The two key components of one’s law school application are one’s LSAT score and cumulative grade point average.  If those two scores make one competitive, a strong personal statement and application definitely will make a significant difference.  Over the years, I have seen countless pre-law students write personal statements that do not properly “sell” themselves to law schools.  I have had the privilege of working with many of these students to revise their personal statements in a way that is far more compelling, including working extensively with multiple students who have been accepted into Harvard Law School and other top universities.

It can be very useful to get a knowledgeable outsider’s opinion of one’s personal statement.  Family members often are not the best source of this information, even if they have a legal background and extensive knowledge of the law school application process.  The reason is simple:  it is hard for family members and loved ones to be objective and totally candid with you, even if they are well-intentioned and desire to do so.

Students who are interested in law school application consulting are welcome to discuss their needs with me.  I put together individualized law school application consulting packages that typically consist of the following:

  • Review of initial draft of personal statement, if one has been prepared.
  • Initial meeting or telephone conversation to discuss your personal situation, strengths, weaknesses, etc.
  • Guidance on how to present yourself most effectively to law schools – if you already have written a draft of a personal statement, the chances are good that you will be asked to prepare a completely different and revised draft.
  • Review of revised draft with an eye towards fine-tuning and correcting any potentially problematic statements.

Law school application consulting, like personal tutoring, isn’t cheap.  However, it is 1-on-1 can be customized to suit your exact needs, and can be very effective. In addition, unlike corporate test prep companies, there is no “middleman” – you work directly with me.  Please feel free to email me at mark@scoreitup.com for more details, pricing, etc.
