Is ScoreItUp LSAT Prep “Too Good To Be True”?

Recently, an anonymous poster on Reddit expressed some skepticism about ScoreItUp, writing that the course “seems a bit too good to be true” and wondering whether the many positive reviews of ScoreItUp’s program were real.

I have to admit feeling both amused and flattered by that comment: nearly 18 years ago, when I started ScoreItUp, my goal was to create an LSAT prep course that would “seem a bit too good to be true.”

But the idea behind ScoreItUp is actually very simple.

The Most Important Factor in Any Course

I believed something when I founded ScoreItUp that I continue to believe wholeheartedly to this day, and which may sound obvious: the most important factor in any educational course — whether in high school, college, law school, or LSAT prep — is the instructor who is teaching it.

Based on that belief, I made a decision when starting ScoreItUp that runs completely against what most companies are taught in business school. Instead of trying to scale the company quickly by hiring many instructors and expanding into dozens of locations, I decided to focus on maximizing quality for students. That meant doing something very simple but highly unusual in the LSAT Prep world: personally teaching every ScoreItUp class myself.

A Career Focused on Teaching and Legal Reasoning

Teaching has essentially been the focus of my entire professional career. Over the past two decades I have:

• Taught LSAT preparation for more than 20 years to thousands of prelaw students

• Graduated from Harvard Law School

• Worked as a prosecutor and civil litigator

• Taught more than 50 university law-related courses, primarily at UC Irvine, to undergraduate, graduate, and working professional students

• Helped many students earn major scholarships, including full-ride scholarships to T14 law schools and gain admission into the top law schools in the country

All of those experiences revolve around the same set of skills that the LSAT tests: logic, clear reasoning, and precision in the analysis of the English language.

What Makes ScoreItUp Different

In-Person and Live Online Courses

For many years, ScoreItUp courses were available only to students in Southern California.

One of the few positive developments to come out of the Covid era is that the exact same ScoreItUp courses are now offered live online via Zoom, which allows students from anywhere in the world to participate. For students in Southern California, the classes are still offered in person as well.
