Stock market guru Warren Buffet has a saying: stocks are the only thing people don’t want to buy on sale. In other words, when the stock market goes down and you can get a bargain, people become scared of stocks and don’t buy them.
It is a natural, albeit irrational, emotion that all of us tend to share to some degree or another. Along the same lines, some students may look at the recently published LSAT/law school data (see the 10/23/14 blog below for more details) and think: “if fewer people are going to law school, maybe I shouldn’t either.” The decision to go to law school is an important one that should be well thought out. A lot of factors, beyond LSAC data, should influence that decision. However, the fact that law school may be “on sale” (fewer applicants to law school = law schools giving out more generous scholarships) is a good, not bad, factor to throw into the equation!
